Wrapping presents has become such a dull endeavor. The big box stores like our local CVS and Walmart are now selling pre-wrapped bags with the concept of "Add Your Gift Here". They have made it so easy that you don't even have to think about what color tissue paper matches the bag you've selected, as they've done it all for you! Well boring gifts - no more! With these wrapping tips and tricks, your gifts are sure to wow for any occasion.

Pick a flashy ribbon
While some people will pick out a paper to go with the occasion, the ribbon tends to be the piece that adds the extra flare. Ribbons with extra shine, unique patterns, strange textures, and fun widths can all create fun illusions on your packages. Maybe instead of using a small ribbon on a small box, you pick a wide ribbon and make a giant bow on top. Maybe on your more plain paper, you take a shiny ribbon to stand out and add contrast.
You can also tie ribbons on to the packages in an eye-catching manner. Rather than tying a bow in a square manner, maybe you take the ribbon and run it diagonally across the corner of the package. This asymmetry will give your gift a different configuration than most.

Choose less common supplies from local stores
We have an amazing store in Scottsdale called The Paper Place that is close to all the high energy of Old Town. The Paper Place is an amazing place to find wrapping paper, gift bags, and ribbons because they are sourced from smaller vendors and do not compete with the large box stores. They carry wonderful linen texture gift bags that are not common anywhere else, and provide the most wonderful experience for friends, family, and customers alike!
Not only do they have exquisite wrapping pieces, but they also have an adorable online gift shop where you can purchase goodies to put inside your impeccably designed bags.
Add foliage!
This may seem like a strange heading, but foliage (both real and silk) provide a beautiful element to gifts you share with others. Stores such as Michael's and Hobby Lobby have collections of silk foliage ranging from greenery to large flowers and arrangements. If you are looking to add a more realistic element, you can source flowers from different local florists.
Some of my favorite Scottsdale florists are:
A fun coffee shop and DIY flower shop, Stemistry is a great place to sip your caffeine of choice and assemble your own bouquet at the same time. They are located at 9015 E Via Linda, Unit 106, just off the 101 highway. The best part is - they allow you to buy flowers by the stem so you can get the perfect floral pieces for your gift.
Specializing in pre-made bouquets, this floral shop is a phenomenal option for wanting some diversity in a hurry! Located at 5907 N Granite Reef Road, it is a good option for those who are passing through central Scottsdale on their way to their event!
Offering educational workshops on creating your own bouquet, this shop will allow you to bring out your inner creativity! Bare presents? No more! Tie in a beautiful mini bouquet with the advice and guidance of the florists around you and learn a bit while you're there! Also located within the Old Town Scottsdale area at 4200 N Craftsman Court, this experience is one sure to impact your future wrapping endeavors.
